Cardfight Vanguard Decks and Deckbuilding

Cardfight Vanguard Decks planning

Cardfight Vanguard Decks That Don’t Brick

The difference between Cardfight Vanguard decks lie in their ratios and a singular game plan. Every clan or nation possesses powerful cards, but an experienced player knows which cards contribute to their strategy. A clear winning image allows every card in the deck to fulfil a certain purpose, so when the final turn comes, every single draw combos into a victory.

Ratios, Ratios, Ratios

Cardfight Vanguard Deckbuilding Ratios

Four copies of a card can be played in a deck, unless specified in the card. Increasing the chances of seeing a certain card would mean playing all four copies, but that reduces deck space. The ride deck in Standard allows for simpler deckbuilding due to never getting grade-stuck, but Cardfight Vanguard decks always have to remember their ratios.

  • Play cards at four copies to have a higher chance of seeing them, sometimes two copies for specific situations.
  • The more grade 3s in a deck, the lower its defensive power. There are skills that offset this disadvantage, but grade 3s cannot be used to guard in ordinary circumstances, especially in the early-game.
  • For Premium and V-Premium, Cardfight Vanguard decks have to worry about G-assist. Unless the playstyle forces high grade 3 and 2 counts, play the most cards from lowest grades to highest.

Triggers for Deckbuilding

Triggers

Ratios are extra important in the case of triggers. Every deck in Cardfight Vanguard plays 16 triggers, but the ratio of which triggers to play is determined by the deck’s playstyle.

  • Play more Draws if the playstyle sacrifices defense for power.
  • Play Criticals  for more attack power or if the playstyle takes advantage of Criticals like a restanding vanguard.
  • Play Fronts if the playstyle revolves around swarming rear-guards.
  • Play Stands to take advantage of “when it attacks” skills

Stick To One Game Plan

Mixing multiple game plans into one deck can lead to bricking due to a lack of synergy between cards. If half the deck supports archetype A and the other half archetype B, there is a high chance for a hand to contain A and B cards that don’t support each other. Nations and clans have staples that can be played in every deck, so focus on using those to support the more archetype-specific cards.

Cardfight Vanguard Decks Conclusion

Deckbuilding is the skill that players possess before playing Cardfight!! Vanguard itself. If deckbuilding is mastered, games are won before they even begin.
