For a pop star that was the face of Crystal Melody back at 2020, nowadays Eve doesn’t get enough love. Younger and stronger divas like Ange, Melody, Raindear, and even Meer top the charts in V-Premium tournaments, but not an Eve in sight. She’s beginning to look washed up, old and forgotten.
My favorite pastime in this game is to build decks around forgotten archetypes. I remade deletors using the chaos engine, and I’m not letting Eve’s career fade away just yet!
Eve Has New Friends
Eve is a legendary pop star, which means she’s a grade above everyone else. This works to our detriment because we won’t be able to access her abilities until we get through our first grade 3 turn. Make the best of this time by gaining card advantage with Ange through bouncing cards and clearing circles for our Eve turn. Multi-attacking with Tirua alone won me matches if the opponent couldn’t survive the early-game.
Aqua: Eve’s Best Friend
Aqua is every Bermuda Triangle deck’s best friend, but she helps out Eve more because she draws a card and clears a circle. Eve’s superior calling only works on open rear guard circles, so Aqua can air out your field if it looks too full. Her draw lets you clear out the top card if you would rather put it in your hand instead of calling it on the field. Her power gain works as a Vanguard as well, so she can punish hard during the early game. Mandatory four copies, thank her for your massive card hand.
Eve’s Grade 2 Supporting Cast
These two help me with drawing cards, especially Liselotte in the early game to pressure for heal guardians. I run Liselotte at two copies because Eve does her ability, but better and isn’t once per turn. I still run her for the early game, since sometimes you won’t have anything to bounce if you ride Aqua. Metre helps me clear circles and draw since Eve doesn’t use any counterblasts and can be used to refill soul for our grade 1s on the list.
Eve’s Grade 1 Rookies
Despite being rookies, each of these units fulfil a vital role to Eve’s game plan of drawing cards, filtering out triggers, and being big, flexible shields when Eve fights against heavy hitters. Because of Ange and Aqua, we can use Sedna multiple times to filter out grade 3s out of the deck. Ourora helps us dig out cards we don’t want to call with Eve. Nikita and Elly are MASSIVE shields that also draw and filter. These units make most of Eve’s bulk, and she truly relies on them to shine.
Conclusion on Eve’s New List
I would be lying if I said Eve was the strongest Bermuda Triangle variant out of the bunch, but she’s definitely fun to play. Nowadays people get angry when you don’t play a clan in its most optimal playstyle, but I believe part of the fun of Vanguard is experimentation. When I flip double triggers and suddenly a rear-guard swings at you for five damage, I feel a joy that is separate from winning or losing. A joy that this washed-up idol can still threaten you if you’re not careful.
